An Adventurous Saratoga Engagement Session

Welcome to the engagement session for one of our wonderful 2020 couples, Tosha and Anthony! These two are some of the sweetest, most down to earth people you’ll ever meet.

As Tosha and I were planning in the weeks leading up to their e-sesh, she had no trouble deciding on a location: their backyard, which also happens to be Anthony’s childhood home! Now, as a photogapher, when I hear that a client wants to have their session in their backyard, one of my biggest concerns is making sure that they still have variety in their portrait backgrounds and locations. Begin the brainstorming! Clearly however, I did NOT need to worry about this location at all! I mean, can we GET a more dreamy spot?!

Tosha and Anthony chose the perfect outfits for their session – right down to the killer heels Tosha wore while trekking through the woods! Props girl, I totally would’ve sprained an ankle at best!

She was carried off into the sunset by her knight in shining armor….
Then I stopped them for pictures in said sunset yet again.
Peacefully enjoying being together
Halfway through their e-sesh, Anthony got creative and asked for these shots! Way to go- you totally nailed it! I love it when grooms get excited about their pictures!
Let me know when you sign your modeling contract please 🙂
Gentleman helping his lady across the water….
Or man showing off his stunning wife-to-be?
Way to go Anthony for picking out a beautiful ring!

On to the behind the scenes!

Can all of our sessions include a dog break? They deserve all of the pets. All of them.

Usually one of the things that I talk about with my couples at the beginning of their session is trust…. The poses that look amazing in photographs, don’t always feel super natural (how often are you nuzzling in public?), and the best locations don’t always look so amazing in real life….

Not the case with these two! Halfway through their session, they got payback by asking me to trust them! Now, as a type A, probably not the easiest thing to do – but I think these two were more than worth it! Even if I had a hardcore NOPE moment at the beginning. 🙂

Me – “We’re going where? Oh! This is pretty!”
NOPE in the wild caught on camera
(Thank God my hair is blocking my face -HA! Y’all wouldn’t believe some of the crazy faces I make)
Me – “Wait….Y’all want me to cross over WHAT?! No way!”
Them – “But the pictures will be so pretty!”
Me – “Pretty sure we can get GREAT shots from over here….”
Them – “Oh, are you too scared?”
Me – “NOPE. NOPE. NOT AT ALL.”

Feel the fear. Do the thing anyway. Just don’t fall in the water with the camera for cryin’ out loud.
For reference, THIS is what we were crossing over….and Tosha and Anthony do it all the time!
Someone teach me your balancing skills!

Tosha and Anthony, we enjoyed every moment of our time together, and truly cannot wait for your wedding. Your engagement session will forever be one of our favorites!
